The 630910-117LA plano-convex infrared lens has a diameter of 2.0 in. (50.8 mm), edge thickness of 7.9 mm a focal length of 8.75 in, and is Tanaka OEM compatible. The Black Magic™ AR coating used for these CO2 laser lenses is designed specifically for 10.6 micron wavelength. The high quality coating increases the amount of energy going through the lens and decrease the absoption to <0.15%.
The Zinc Selenide substrate's low absorption coefficient makes it a perfect candidate for focusing applications using high power CO2 lasers. These lenses are designed for high durability and accuracy and manufactured by automated CNC technology to assure complete uniformity.
These lenses are more suitable for high turnover laser cutting applications including cutting and welding of a wide range of materials (metals, wood, ceramics, plastics, and composites) when the cost is often more important than the level of accuracy. When cutting steels, and other thicker materials, a Plano-Convex Lens provides a greater width of cut which enables the laser's Oxygen Assist to enter the cut and ease the cutting process. In addition, Plano-Convex lenses give a greater depth of field needed to maintain a taperless edge when cutting thicker materials.
